The ‘experience’ is not worth it at all. This is literally just for people who wanna take a fancy picture to post it on insta. Food extremely overpriced, extremely small portions and it took forever to order, get the food, get the check and then for the waiter to finally come to your table so you could pay. Way too much time and money spent, looking at how underwhelming the food and the experience was. The interior is nice, but it’s definitely not worth it. Should’ve gone to the nearby Alchemist.

The meal we had at Tattu was delicious.
We had the Crispy kataifi king prawns,
Sugar salt crispy squid, Caramel soy aged beef fillet which was recommended to us by Keiron, and the
Shredded duck fried rice.
The beef was my favourite - lovely tender with a delicious sauce.
My friend loved the squid which was moreish.
Keiron who looked after us for the meal was very attentive, engaging and answered all our random questions. He was kind and added to our night.
I would definitely recommend.

Painfully average for the price you pay. I’ve had just as good of an experience at most Chinese restaurants and they’ve all been around half the price of this one. The thing that really got to me was the £11 charge for prawn crackers that they bring to your table when you sit down. That felt like a bit of a scam. The wagyu gyozas were definitely the highlight of the show.

Came for my partners 22nd birthday and the experience was amazing. Food was some of the best we’ve ever tasted, and service was quick. Keiron was amazing. Would highly recommend.

We phoned to reserve a table, but it wasn't available until 9.45pm. We waited anyway, as we were keen to give it a try. We ordered a menu at £90 per person and an aperitif. They served us the starters before we even had our aperitif, which is already not normal. Drinking this sort of thing while eating is not the most pleasant thing. Then we were treated to an avalanche of dishes (8) in succession, with no break between the starters and the main courses, on the pretext that the kitchens had finished their services. I then told a waitress about my bad experience, and she laughed at me and made light of it. £244 for 2 people and no time to eat is expensive. I felt like a goose being force-fed. And all this without any apology or commercial gesture.

Food was nice, but I've had just as nice (maybe without the patter I suppose) from local chinese takeaway at a fraction of the price. Service was very friendly and efficient and surroundings very pleasant. Overall Tattu is vastly overpriced, but that's what get these days in an increasingly pretentious Edinburgh.

Absolutely lovely meal! We went for the Tattu signature set menu, offering all the choices of dishes we liked and all tasted phenomenal. One of a kind, good mix of umami, surprise and sweetness. Keiron, our waiter was lovely, introduced us to signature dishes, what he recommends, and made our experience pleasant. He knew it was my birthday as well, and got a surprise fireworks to top it off. I had a lovely time.

Really lovely place for birthday meal. We had lots of sharing small plates, everything delicious! Our waiter Keiron was great, friendly and knowledgeable and really made us feel so welcome and well looked after!

Sadly very disappointed with our visit here. Food was vastly overpriced, 4 of us in the company, 5 prawn crackers each, they were stale but we never mentioned it as we assumed they were complimentary...... nope £22. Table water, complimentary..... nope £5.50. The waiter was very pleasant but spoke with such a strong foreign accent that none of us could understand everything he was saying to us and to be fair to him, there were far too many customers for him to look after, even with his assistant running to & fro the kitchen with the orders. This meant we were left waiting longer than we should have for everything, orders, drinks, food delivery. Then they have the audacity to charge excessively for service.
I am sorry but when their local competition is significantly superior I have no idea why anyone would chose to dine here.

Nice place, but very expensive for what you get. AND... the chefs need to cut back on the soy sauce. For us older folks, we don't need so much salt in our diet. Thanks though to Chris our attendant on the night who did a grand job.

The food was amazing, but we were let down by the service. Unfortunately our server spoke really quietly to the point we couldn't really understand what he was saying. We were also brought the wrong desserts and spent around 10 minutes trying to grab our waiter's attention to say this was wrong. When we told him it was wrong there was no apology for the mixup and he just said "Oh, do you want the other dessert?". Of course, that's why we ordered it! It was also a bit confusing as you got 2 desserts between 3 people, so it was awkward to share, but to be honest it's not something we would have thought about if there hadn't been the initial mixup.
It put a sour note on the meal as, when you're spending over £100 per person, you expect everything to be on point, and you don't expect to be sitting around trying to flag your waiter.
Again, the food really is GOOD, would highly recommend it for that (especially the Caramel Soy Beef Fillet); but I wouldn't spend this kind of money here again with this level of service.

We went to Tattu to celebrate a birthday. We had the half duck pancakes to share between the two of us, perfect amount to start us off. We then shared the wagyu steak, monkfish and duck fried rice. They were fabulous. We then shared the cherry blossom dessert which was served with dry ice.
We had 2 cocktails each, the cherry blossom negroni and then the cherry vodka which came in a skull with dry ice for a cool effect.
Celebrating a birthday they gave a sparkler and fortune cookie. Only comment was that there were a few birthdays so the surprise was ruined by seeing losts of other people getting it. Maybe best to have different things to mix it up a bit… or not sit the birthday dinner tables next to each other?
We spent about £250 including the tip, was a very expensive meal for 2. Enjoyed it but only as a special occasion

We visited for our anniversary on the 9th and had a lovely time throughout. The food and drinks were great, however, the standout was the service from Claire, who took the time to explain each of the dishes and answer all of our questions. Easily the best service we’ve had in Edinburgh, and made our night feel even more special.

Waiter reccommended the beef fillet rare medium & it did not dissapoint. Candy Skull cocktail with dry ice was very clever.
Very expensive but amazing for a one off treat for us.

We went last night for a special occasion. Tattu is a beautiful restaurant and very pricey for food and drink but you go for a special night. The food we had to send back as it was cold and when it returned was semi cold. When paying so much for food you expect it to be great. After we finished our main course we wanted more drinks and asked how long we had the table for and were told we had another 15 mins giving us 1hr and 15mins for our special night out in total. The whole experience was very disappointing and expensive and we will definitely not go back. The guy serving us was the best thing about it. I’d recommend they look at customer experience. Such a shame.

**"Extremely Disappointing – Beware Going!"**
We booked Tattu Edinburgh for a special New Year’s Eve celebration and were left utterly disappointed. We opted for the £70-per-person shared platter. For that price, the experience was shockingly poor.
The wine situation was absurd—our bottle was kept in a cooler "around the corner," meaning we couldn’t see or access it. When we requested a cooler for our table, we were told none were available. We had to settle for the wine being left on the table, where it quickly warmed up, ruining the experience.
The food was no better. The prawn crackers were stale, and the waitress even admitted it by asking, “Are they a bit stale?”—clearly aware of the issue. Later, the rice bowl was also stale and clearly not fresh. While a few elements of the meal were decent, the overall quality was far below what you’d expect for the price.
To top it all off, I contacted the restaurant afterward to express my concerns and seek a resolution, but I was completely ignored. This lack of accountability is inexcusable and adds insult to injury.
For anyone considering dining here—beware! The experience was a massive letdown, and the management clearly has no interest in addressing complaints. Avoid at all costs!

Came in this evening for my birthday meal with my boyfriend. Lewis looked after us perfectly from start to finish - we couldn’t fault him! He even brought out a sparkler for my birthday which was so sweet of him. A great night, fantastic food, and fabulous service!

Food is boring and overpriced, lacks flavour and good cooking techniques, service is attentive and staff well trained, drinks also horrendously overpriced, basic Chinese food presented a little more elaborately , if you want to take intsta posts and don't really care much for the qulaity of the food you're paying top dollar for then go for it but much better places to eat at a fraction of the price , have no problem paying for good food but when you pay for it you expect it and it was a huge let down.
